Chile Wild, North, Center and South
Chile has considerable geographic isolation. This is due to the existence of the Atacama Desert in the north, the Pacific Ocean in the west, and the Andes mountain range in the east. Due to this isolation, rates of endemism are very high. Chile has 33,000 living species of which 829 are terrestrial vertebrates. Among them there are 480 species of birds described, 11 of them are endemic (2.3%). The number of native mammal species is 160 of which 13 are endemic (8%). Among reptiles, the rate of endemism is high, 50% of the 126 native species are endemic. Finally, the group with the highest rate of endemism are amphibians with 63 described native species, of which 72% are endemic. The participants of this will be enchanted by the dazzling landscape of this extremely beautiful country. From the extreme north to Patagonia, they will have an adventure experience observing the wild fauna and the most outstanding landscapes. Mountains, glaciers, volcanoes, the highest lake in the world, the Pacific Ocean, the driest desert in the world, the temperate jungle and the impressive Torres del Paine National Park will make this trip one of the most unforgettable.
