Escape to the Amazon Jungle, Mitú
This is one of the best and most organized places for birding in the Colombian Guiana Shield ecosystems on the Vaupes River. Close to the Brazilian border, Mitú offers world-class birding for beginners and experts where some of the most special birds and many of the restricted species to this area and ecosystems in this particular part of the country can be seen. We will have the opportunity to get involved in the culture and experience the incredible biodiversity, thanks to the company of a native indigenous Tucano as our local guide. He will take you through different routes in various life zones that include Firm-ground forests, White sand, and Varzea forests. This route will make your list increase by more than 250 species, all of them unique and very rare. This is a real JUNGLE EXPEDITION but with the comfort that only MANAKIN NATURE TOURS can offer.

Dress Code
This is a fairly standard birding tour with early morning starts and evening finishes to each day. One some days we may take picnic lunches in order to no waste time during the middle of the day or having to leave site. The weather can be unpredictable with rain and sunshine both likely. At higher altitudes it can be chilly. We have an amazing photo opportunity for many species of hummingbirds and other species coming to feeders, we will also be looking for a good number of species that are very rare and seldom seen, but we will be going to areas that hold these sought-after species.
